Dry Training — Safety & Subscription
Last updated: May 2026
Do not perform breath-holds in a bath or home pool without proper supervision.
Safety first
Breath-hold training carries real risks, even on dry land. The guidelines below follow widely accepted freediving practice. They are not optional recommendations.
Never train alone on max holds or test days
A trained buddy must be present for test days and any near-max attempt. They should know you are breath-holding and how to respond if you become hypoxic (support, recovery breathing, call emergency services if needed).
Know your limits — train submax
Progress gradually. This program uses submax sessions by design. Do not chase seconds when tired, ill, or stressed. It is better to repeat an easier week than to push through “hard” every session.
Safe position for dry static
Lie on your back or sit securely in a chair. You must not fall from height or hit hard objects if you feel dizzy. Never practice breath-holds while driving or operating machinery.
Do not hyperventilate
Deep or rapid breathing before a hold lowers CO₂ and can make a hold feel easier while increasing blackout risk. Use calm, normal breathing in prep phases unless the session explicitly guides otherwise.
Stop immediately at danger signs
Strong urge to breathe, dizziness, tingling, vision changes, panic, or chest pain. Recover with normal breathing. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.
Not medical advice
FreedivingFlow and Dry Training Pro are coaching software, not medical devices and not a substitute for a physician. If you have cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, or other conditions, or if you are pregnant, consult a doctor before breath-hold training. You are responsible for deciding whether training is appropriate for you.
